About The Position

The Corporate Purchasing Agent is responsible for the procurement of merchandise in assigned categories, while maintaining proper management of inventory, increasing profitability, executing properly prepared advertisement planning, executing plans to drive traffic to our Stores, and the increasing of sales for all items associated with the designated departments, while striving to provide World-Class Service to our Customers. This Purchasing Agent will be overseeing multiple product categories and will report directly to the Director of Purchasing. This position will also have the opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally with all Team Members of our business, in addition to building and fostering key Supplier Partner relationships as well. This role will give you an amazing opportunity to travel to national and industry trade shows, along with visiting our brick-and-mortar stores, our competition, and also the potential to visit and tour select Supplier Partner facilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years’ retail purchasing experience required.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be self-motivated, analytical, strong computer (Excel- Word- Microsoft Office), negotiation skills, and good overall communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and Leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous retail sales and management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the item selection, replenishment, sales analysis, category management, and profitability of assigned Supplier Partners and categories.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels, achieve realistic gross profit margin, and increase sales performance by utilizing available software tools and analytical programs provided by the Company.
  • Communicate accurately, timely and appropriately with Store Team Members to identify opportunities to increase sales and improve profits, along with maintaining positive rapport with all Store Teams & Operational Team Members.
  • Research and stay in tune with appropriate industry trends and understand competition’s pricing, trends, and merchandising approach and innovations.
  • Assist as needed in the remodeling of existing Stores or the setting of new Store projects to represent our Gold Standards; including such things as merchandise sets, scheduling vendor support, and appropriate related sales needs.
  • Work closely with our Operations Team Members on a consistent basis to ensure our Gold Standard merchandising while keeping Point-of-Purchase Displays and signage properly updated in all Stores.
  • Attend trade shows, seminars, appropriate Supplier Partner facilities and embrace other related travel as needed to achieve our Company goals and category objectives.
  • Develop and enhance marketing plans to support all advertising such as print, electronic and social media outlets with a heavy emphasis on Omni-channel marketing cooperation via company e-commerce site.
  • Lead and inspire the professional growth and training of your Purchasing Agent assistant, while overseeing their daily duties.
  • Participate as necessary in appropriate Conference Calls with your Category Supplier Partners, internal colleagues, and also join in the launch/update meetings for our Mid-States Buying Group discussions.
  • Initiate, support, and facilitate Team Member training assets on our existing product portfolio, in addition to all new items/categories that are procured, via our learning management system as well as orchestrating our in-person Team Member training events.
  • Consistent attendance for regularly scheduled work shifts is required.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Complete special projects as directed by the Fam & Home Supply CEO, Director of Purchasing, and/or the Director of Replenishment.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet the needs of the business.
