About The Position

Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student for a part-time, seasonal Corporate Communications Internship. This role will support the Executive Vice President, Chief Strategic and Corporate Communications Officer, and the communications team in crafting and disseminating MSE's narrative to both internal and external stakeholders. The intern will work in coordination with marketing and communications teams across all MSE brands, contributing to the company's mission of providing first-class customer service, championing community engagement, building championship-caliber teams, and driving innovation. MSE is a prominent integrated sports and entertainment company, owning and operating multiple professional sports teams including the Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards, and Washington Mystics, along with various esports teams and a regional sports network, Monumental Sports Network. The company also manages major venues like Capital One Arena and EagleBank Arena, and has pioneered initiatives such as the first in-arena sportsbook in North America and a flagship esports and entertainment venue, District E. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sports industry communications, contributing to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Related internship(s) in public relations, journalism, communications, or sports management.
  • Excellent writing skills and demonstrated ability to produce professional-caliber written content.
  • Demonstrated understanding of media relations and corporate communications.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks and complete in a timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills, organizational skills, critical thinking and general digital literacy.
  • Knowledge of sports business industry, current issues, and relevant topics.
  • Understanding of the overall branding and messaging goals of MSE.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Compile daily press clips.
  • Maintain departmental tracking grids (Editorial Calendar, Upcoming Conferences/Awards).
  • Use media tracking software to monitor and measure earned media activities and compile reports.
  • Assist in research and drafting for press releases, advisories, award submissions, executive briefs, and more.
  • Organize and manage files within the shared department drive.
  • Provide support for games, concerts, and live events at Capital One Arena, EagleBank Arena, and community initiatives as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
