About The Position

The Corporate Accounting Specialist I will be responsible for various accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, inventory analysis and reconciliation, budgeting and variance analysis, and audit support. This role requires a strong understanding of GAAP, advanced Excel skills, and experience with ERP systems. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to data confidentiality. Previous experience in the retail, supermarket, or grocery sector is a significant advantage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
  • 3–5 years of professional accounting experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, formulas).
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of GAAP Accounting Principle
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and a strict commitment to data confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with other team members, departments, stores, vendors, and corporate executives.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in the retail, supermarket, or grocery sector is a major plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, including the review of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Perform account reconciliations and analyses, ensuring all corporate transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger.
  • Partner with store managers and distribution centers and observe physical inventory on a timely basis to monitor, track, and reconcile inventory levels, shrink, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Reporting Group and provide monthly variance reports comparing actual store performance to budgets and forecasts.
  • Coordinate internal and external financial audits and provide the necessary documentation and schedules to auditors.
