Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of progressive experience in general accounting, financial reporting or financial analysis, including hands-on ownership of month-end journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Solid working knowledge of US GAAP and financial statement mechanics; able to explain the accounting behind an entry, not only how to record it.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience within an integrated ERP system; JD Edwards preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver assigned work by the committed date.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail orientation with a demonstrated record of accurate, well-documented, self-explanatory work product.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a multi-entity or multi-currency environment.
  • Exposure to consolidation, intercompany eliminations or global finance operations.
  • Manufacturing industry experience.
  • CPA candidate or progress toward the CPA.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries for the corporate and holding company entities, with complete supporting documentation, within the close calendar deadlines.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and roll-forwards across the corporate accounts - including cash, prepaids, accruals and fixed assets - identifying and clearing differences, and escalating unresolved items with a proposed next step.
  • Maintain the corporate and holding company accounting records and general ledger, ensuring transactions are recorded in the correct entity, account and period.
  • Prepare intercompany transaction detail for the elimination process; confirm intercompany balances with counterpart entities and follow through to resolution.
  • Prepare daily cash journal entries and reconcile bank activity to the general ledger.
  • Take deliverables through review with the Senior Corporate Accountant where required, and address review comments promptly.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc schedules supporting the monthly consolidation and management reporting package.
  • Use company financial information systems and reporting tools to extract and validate data used in analyses; reconcile system output to the general ledger before use.
  • Support the treasury function with cash management schedules, bank reporting inputs and supporting documentation for debt compliance reporting.
  • Maintain and investigate integrity and exception reports; document findings and resolution.
  • Prepare audit schedules and pull supporting documentation in response to internal and external audit requests, for review by the Senior Corporate Accountant prior to release.
  • Document procedures for areas of responsibility and keep task documentation current.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to corporate accounting processes, including opportunities to reduce manual effort or improve accuracy.
  • Build working knowledge of the consolidation process and US GAAP application, supporting progression toward broader ownership over time.
  • Other duties as assigned.
