Reporting to the Sr. Exploration Geologist, this role is responsible for providing support on geological mapping, geochemical sampling programs, geophysical surveys, and drilling and to ensure service and/or operating standards are met (internally and/or externally). To contribute to the design and development of processes, practices, and methodologies in geology.

Requirements

  • BSc in Geology or similar field
  • A working knowledge of diamond drills
  • Effective ability to convey messages in an organized, clear, and succinct manner.
  • The individual should demonstrate a high level of energy, self motivation, and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills together with a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Good communication skills, both orally and written and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Must either have a membership as a Professional Geologist in Province of Ontario (P.Geo) or be eligible for and working towards a professional accreditation in geology in Ontario.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably 1-year experience in core logging and sampling
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel, other related software such as software including AutoCAD, Datamine, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Main duty is core logging for surface and underground diamond drilling programs.
  • Research information to support decision making and improve processes, technologies, or methodologies
  • Document data from field programs and makes it accessible to all staff.
  • Keep on top of trends related to mine geology and incorporates this information into work assignments.
  • Actively seeks mentorship and learning to improve technical knowledge and skill set
  • Compiles geologic and assay data on plan maps and cross sections. Enters data in digital files
  • Enters data into files and database
  • Other duties as required
