Core Lab Supervisor
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Lab Supervisor to lead a team of approximately 25 laboratory professionals and oversee quality across an assigned health system. This hands-on leadership role emphasizes coaching, problem-solving, and quality oversight rather than performing bench work. The supervisor remains visible and engaged with the team during daily operations and serves as a trusted resource for physicians and clients. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The position oversees staff leadership, quality assurance, automated-process quality control, and laboratory equipment and instrumentation performance during the analytical phase. It also serves as a knowledgeable point of contact for physicians and clients regarding results and inquiries during the post-analytical phase. Compensation is listed as USD 73,040 to USD 131,560 yearly.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a science field of study.
- At least 4 years of clinical laboratory experience.
- ASCP certification.
- New York State License.
- Specialized knowledge of electrophoresis and ANA testing, with the ability to discuss the technical details fluently.
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer-service skills.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise approximately 25 staff, including scheduling, daily huddles, and ongoing staff development.
- Coach, mentor, and develop the team while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Stay visible and engaged on the floor, supporting staff through day-to-day operations.
- Provide first-line quality assurance oversight for the department.
- Oversee quality control of automated processes.
- Ensure proper maintenance and performance of laboratory equipment and instrumentation during the analytical phase.
- Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for physicians and clients regarding results and inquiries during the post-analytical phase.
- Communicate complex technical information professionally, clearly, and confidently.
