The Core Faculty Physician provides primary health care in a primary health care clinic, serving the low-income, working poor, homeless, and individuals with barriers to health care in Douglas County. The physician assumes responsibility for routine patient care including assessment, diagnosis, and evaluation of injury and/or illness, and ordering of routine exams. They utilize skills in providing diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems, including curative and preventive medical care, health promotion and education, and continuing case evaluation and management. The role ensures efficient and effective patient care through collaborative planning and problem-solving with Advanced Practice Providers, clinic staff, and volunteers. The physician also acts as a consultant for and provides guidance to Advanced Practice Providers regarding clinical practice issues. This role is committed to training future family physicians to deliver quality health services to patients of diverse cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. The physician will teach residents to treat all patients with dignity regardless of their background. Duties include teaching, mentoring, advising, and supervising residents, overseeing resident scholarly activity, quality improvement, ensuring the quality of didactic and clinical education, and working directly with residents to ensure appropriate milestone development.
