About The Position

Interactive Strategies is a full-service digital agency in Washington, DC. We work with nonprofits, associations, and mission-driven organizations on the things that matter most to them — web, brand identity, social ads, digital campaigns, fundraising, and advocacy. The work is varied, and so is the creative talent we draw on to do it. We keep an active roster of freelance creatives to call on when the right project comes along, and we're looking to expand it.

Requirements

  • Sharp ear for language.
  • Genuine understanding of brand voice.
  • Ability to write for people who are being asked to care about something bigger than themselves.
  • Reside in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and distinguish a brand’s voice and tone across written brand systems, messaging guides, and style guides.
  • Create relevant content that is fresh, timely and stops the scroll on social media, in inboxes, and on the web.
  • Write to move people to act.
  • Bring unique, yet functional content solutions to a website’s most common problems.
  • Write with purpose — every word is in service of a goal, whether that's moving someone to donate, subscribe, or simply stay on the page.
  • Push boundaries and implement innovative techniques.
  • Bring awareness to diverse perspectives in the stories told, the voices elevated, and the teams that are part of the work.
  • Sweat the details: word choice, rhythm, tone.
  • Be curious and always looking for what you don't know yet — new approaches, better ways to connect with an audience, and sharper ways to tell a story.
  • Collaborate and work well with others.

Benefits

  • Compensation at $70–95/hour depending on experience and project scope.
