About The Position

The Copywriter helps bring MEC’s purpose to life: to equip people for a lifetime outdoors. This role helps shape MEC’s voice across all channels, creating clear, credible and compelling copy that helps people choose the right gear for any activity. Writing at MEC means translating staff expertise and product knowledge into helpful advice and inspiring stories. No writing job is too big or small, and they bring creativity and enthusiasm to a wide variety of outdoor topics – they could be writing emails about the latest in bikes one day and paid ads about technical hiking pants the next. They push themselves to understand the nuances of a wide range of outdoor activities to make sure MEC authentically shows up, indoors and out. They’re keen to learn and grow as a writer, adapt copy to suit different channels, and contribute to big-picture creative concepts. Juggling a variety of projects is territory they’re incredibly familiar with, and they don’t let their ego get in the way of collaboration. The Copywriter reports to the Copy Manager and works closely with everyone on the marketing team. And of course, when they’re not working with words, they love to get outside.
