This role involves monitoring, advising, and assisting student organizations, developing and coordinating a comprehensive program of educational, social, and cultural events, and planning and executing large annual programs. The Coordinator will also serve as the advisor for the Student Government Association, oversee the student engagement budget, work with outside vendors, supervise volunteers, and assist with various college-wide student events and programs. Additionally, the role includes managing the Student Center Game Room, coordinating service-learning opportunities, and collaborating with college offices and community organizations to create and execute volunteer opportunities for students. Data compilation and record-keeping of student engagement are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an institution that holds accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and approved by the College with a bachelor’s degree.
  • One year of experience working in an educational environment with students, faculty, and administrators.
  • Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
  • Must meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations.
  • Must disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application.
  • Practice strong organizational and fiscal management skills in handling departmental budgets.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Establish and maintain knowledge of college policies and procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service through the use of appropriate written and verbal communication including, but not limited to, using the telephone, email, voicemail, and written correspondence.
  • Ability to create and make presentations to individuals and/or groups.
  • Regular and consistent attendance, as well as punctuality, are essential to fulfilling the requirements of this job.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of experience in student activities, student engagement, service learning, event planning, and/or programming in a higher education setting.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors, advises, and assists student organizations with membership, activity planning, and execution of activities.
  • Serves as the liaison for club advisors and develops ongoing training for advisors.
  • Develops and coordinates a comprehensive program of educational, social, and cultural events for the student body.
  • Plans and executes large annual programs such as “Welcome Week,” “Homecoming,” and “Pirate Fest” for students, families, and community members.
  • Works collaboratively with marketing to effectively promote and publicize programs, events, and services.
  • Serves as the advisor for the Student Government Association.
  • Attends local, district, and state meetings as needed.
  • Oversees the student engagement budget, including preparing budgetary requests, managing club funding requests, and effectively managing the approved budget.
  • Works with outside vendors and contractors to negotiate agreements to ensure the lowest cost and highest quality of service for student events.
  • Supervises and directs student and staff volunteers at large student events.
  • Assists with the oversight of the Student Ambassador program.
  • Assists with the planning and execution of College-wide student events such as Pirate Path, Pirate Saturday, Lumberjack Festival, FAFSA Nights, Financial Aid Day, and Commencement, and other related events.
  • Oversees and manages the Pensacola Campus Student Center Game Room.
  • Works with department heads to coordinate service-learning opportunities.
  • Works collaboratively with College offices and departments to plan events such as receptions, induction ceremonies, award ceremonies, study sessions, speaker series, and other special academic events.
  • Collaborates with local community organizations to create and execute volunteer opportunities for students.
  • Compiles data and maintains a record of student engagement hours and activities for statistical analysis and reporting.
  • Participates in College functions and committees as appropriate.
  • Represents the College at community functions as needed.
  • Responsible for knowing and conforming to all safety practices and regulations that apply to this specific area and position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
