About The Position

Arizona State University's SolarSPELL initiative seeks a Student Engagement Coordinator to foster relationships, inclusion, and a shared sense of purpose among approximately 150 student interns and volunteers, while contributing collaboratively to a seven-person team. The role works with SolarSPELL staff to identify project needs, recruit and onboard students from ASU's 17 colleges and other universities, and help students contribute to the Solar Powered Educational Learning Library initiative. It requires detailed coordination in a fast-paced environment focused on student engagement, support, and success. SolarSPELL expands global educational opportunities through solar-powered, offline digital libraries that provide localized educational content to communities with limited access to electricity, internet connectivity, or traditional libraries. The initiative partners with organizations and communities to develop localized collections, deliver digital and information literacy training, and support users. Its libraries operate in 18 countries, with collections and partners spanning education, health, agriculture, and entrepreneurship. The position supports student engagement programs, recruitment, onboarding, events, mentorship, travel, and student employment opportunities. It also coordinates intern human-resources needs and provides support as a primary contact for troubleshooting and emergencies. Domestic and international travel may be part of the position, depending on interest. The work is based in an environmentally controlled office setting at ASU's Tempe campus.
