About The Position

Supporting the Specialist, CNIB Guide Dogs with recruitment of 600 new volunteers as we have the need of expanding our volunteer base. The volunteer coordinator will also work directly with the National Volunteer Engagement team to execute and evaluate recruitment campaign for the Guide Dog program; and deploy a re-engagement plan for existing volunteers that will improve communication and increase connection with our mission by creating meaningful volunteer opportunities.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in related field such as communications, marketing, administration or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in a client service focused field.
  • Proven teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication and advocacy skills.
  • Strong digital skills with the ability to learn and adapt to new platforms.
  • Professional, compassionate, and understanding when working with both people (staff, vets, volunteers and the general public) and dogs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with dogs in roles such as dog sitter, dog walker, boarding kennel attendant, dog groomer an asset.
  • Good understanding of dog behaviour, especially with larger breed dogs and groups of dogs is an asset.
  • Flexibility with work hours: potentially will be required to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Current Ontario driver's licence is an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate impactful Volunteer Onboarding and Training templates and resources specific to CNIB Guide Dogs requirements and in line with CNIB's standards across the country.
  • Support with the development of standardized, bilingual documentation and ensures best practices are in place and adhered to the Volunteer Engagement Program.
  • Support CNIB Guide Dogs staff who require guidance on volunteer-related matters and takes the lead in training staff on CNIB Guide Dogs volunteer procedures.
  • Works with National Volunteer Engagement team to review recruitment, retention and stewardship strategies and events that help CNIB Guide Dogs maintain a consistent base of volunteers to support Guide Dog Program expansion at this critical time.
  • Works within the CNIB risk matrix to evaluate processes and policies that mitigate the organization risk and keeps volunteers and participants safe.
  • Assists with execution of Volunteer Engagement activities, such as regular engagement session programming and other stewardship campaigns.
  • Support with onboarding volunteers into Salesforce to enhance the onboarding experience and tracking information efficiently to create an accurate reporting system to support the evaluation and growth of the program.
