About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is seeking a Coordinator/Senior Coordinator for Student Organizations to join the Student Involvement & Activities office. This role provides continuous services, structure, guidance, and resources to support over 470 Registered Student Organizations (RSOs). The coordinator manages the RSO registration process, oversees the Student Organization Resource Center (SORCE), and provides consultations and trainings for student leaders. Responsibilities include service and program coordination, forming collaborative partnerships, risk management, marketing to a commuter student population, and budget management. The Senior Coordinator role includes additional responsibilities such as serving as an office point of contact for elevated RSO issues, being a member of the Student Free Expressive Response Team, assisting with reviewing and editing guiding documents, and conducting RSO assessments. The position aims to enhance a sense of community by fostering students’ leadership development and appreciation for involvement in activities focused on personal growth, utilizing student development and leadership theory. Ability to work some evenings and weekends is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant full-time experience or 9-months relevant experience as a graduate assistant.
  • Experience with student organizations and leadership development is required.
  • For Senior Coordinator: four years of relevant full-time post-bachelor’s experience or two years of post-master’s relevant full-time experience.
  • For Senior Coordinator: experience with advising student organizations and supervising student staff.
  • Experience with student organizations.
  • Facilitate leadership training for students and/or student organizations.
  • Experience marketing programs and involvement to appeal to students.
  • Presentation skills; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Translate student development and leadership theory and research into practice.
  • Form and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Work autonomously and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Analyze situations and develop solutions.
  • Value a high degree of student contact.
  • Pass a background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the RSO registration process for returning and new student organizations.
  • Oversee the operations of the Student Organization Resource Center (SORCE).
  • Provide consultations and trainings for student leaders related to RSO functions, including accessing University resources and following University policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsible for all aspects of service and program coordination, including forming collaborative partnerships, risk management, marketing to appeal to a commuter student population, and ensuring services and programs are executed within budget and assessed for impact.
  • Serve as the office point of contact for some elevated RSO issues (Senior Coordinator).
  • Serve as a member of the Student Free Expressive Response Team (Senior Coordinator).
  • Assist with reviewing and editing guiding documents such as the RSO Manual and mandatory training curriculum (Senior Coordinator).
  • Conduct and analyze overall RSO assessments (Senior Coordinator).
  • Enhance a growing sense of community by fostering students’ leadership development and appreciation for involvement in activities focused on personal growth through the intentional use of student development theory and leadership theory.
