About The Position

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is seeking a Coordinator, Salary Administration for its Human Resources Department. This role is crucial for supporting the department's operations through confidential, administrative, and clerical tasks. The Coordinator will manage routine and day-to-day Salary Administration functions, acting as the subject matter expert for CSN and Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) policies and processes related to payroll, leave, personnel transactions, employment eligibility, personnel file management, Workday processes, Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), hiring and termination procedures, compensation schedules, and salary changes. This position ensures CSN's compliance with Federal, State, NSHE, and Institution laws, policies, and procedures. The Coordinator will execute the full employment cycle from hire to termination, including all salary and personnel-related transactions for all employee types. This involves coordination within HR, across CSN departments, and with other NSHE institutions to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant HR transactions. The role requires independent research, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under minimal supervision. The Coordinator will also collaborate with various HR departments (Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, CAPE) and other CSN departments (Budget Services, Controller’s Office, Office of Technology Services, Academic Affairs, Student Services) on salary administration matters. Responsibilities include assisting with new employee orientations, personnel transactions, salary changes, and terminations, advising on correct procedures, and preparing reports and correspondence. This position serves as backup for the Assistant Director of Salary Administration, exercising independent decision-making, and providing backup expertise for leave and employment benefits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related fields such as Psychology, Sociology, and Communications; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-4 years of experience in salary administration or a professional related field.
  • Experience working with collective bargaining agreements.
  • HRIS systems experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate routine and day-to-day Salary Administration functions.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for CSN and NSHE Payroll policies and processes, leave and time off for all employee types, personnel transactions, employment eligibility and requirements, personnel file creation, retention, and maintenance, Workday processes and HCM testing, CBA policies, hiring and termination policies and procedures, compensation schedules and salary changes, CSN, NSHE, State, and Federal policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the arrangement and application of these practices, policies, and procedures among the Salary Administration team.
  • Effectively coordinate and execute the full employment cycle, from hire to termination, as well as all salary and personnel related transactions for all employee types – including Professional, Classified, Part-Time, and Contingent Workers/Volunteers.
  • Coordinate within the HR department, amongst CSN departments, and amongst other NSHE Institutions as well as the Systems Office to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant transactions related to employment, compensation, salary, benefits, and other HR functions are completed.
  • Perform independent research and possess strong problem-solving skills.
  • Keep CSN in compliance with Federal, State, NSHE, and Institution laws, policies, and procedures related to salary administration functions.
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and process all aspects of Salary Administration.
  • Coordinate and support procedures with Salary Administration Senior Specialists, other HR departments such as Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, and CAPE.
  • Coordinate the execution of business processes with other CSN Departments, such as Budget Services, Controller’s Office, Office of Technology Services, Academic Affairs, Student Services, etc.
  • Assist with preparing for and facilitating New Employee Hires and Orientations, Personnel Transactions, Salary and Compensation changes, Employee Terminations, etc.
  • Advise on correct procedures and best practices based on employment type and situation.
  • Perform administrative support work to include verifying, compiling, and recording statistical and narrative information for the preparation of reports and records.
  • Utilize word processing and spreadsheet software; prepare correspondence, records and reports based on data obtained from a variety of sources.
  • Serve as the backup for Assistant Director of Salary Administration, exercising considerable independent decision making concerning all matters pertaining to Salary Administration.
  • Provide backup expertise and coverage for matters pertaining to leave and employment benefits, such as Leave Without Pay, Catastrophic and Presidential Leave, New Hire Orientations, Retirement, etc.
