About The Position

This is a full-time, tenure-track position for a Coordinator of Psychological Services at Madera Community College. The role involves providing psychological services and support to students.

Requirements

  • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D degree in Counseling or clinical psychology from a regionally accredited institution.
  • A valid California State Psychologist License.
  • A minimum of three (3) year’s clinical experience.
  • Experience in Psychological Counseling and crisis intervention.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes.
  • Related work and professional experience.
  • Familiarity with standard research practices.
  • Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals.
  • A valid California Community College credential is acceptable. Applicants who possess this credential must also meet the above requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Incorporate elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.
  • Work with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities.
  • Examine and remediate one’s relational practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students.
  • Communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • Work with computers and other technologies utilized in providing high-quality support to students.
  • Work with a wide variety of client groups including outpatient, community primary care, college and crisis intervention with a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing situations, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Exercise full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment.
  • Teach, train, and/or provide professional and clinical supervision.
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, families and other professionals as appropriate.
  • Provide consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
  • Engage in standard research practices.
  • Understand the community college and its mission and goals.
