About The Position

The Training Coordinator/Staff therapist is responsible for the administrative and clinical oversight of the internship training program within Counseling Services. This includes the implementation and vision for the training program. This position includes a staff therapist role, providing direct clinical services to our student population. This candidate will also demonstrate sensitivity and knowledge about inclusion and belonging and embrace opportunities for continued growth in cultural competence.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field.
  • Licensed in PA as psychologist, social worker, or licensed counselor.
  • At least 4 years of experience, including some with young adults/college aged population.
  • Must have experience supervising interns or practicum students.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency through work experience with working with people of various backgrounds.
  • Crisis Intervention: ability to handle emergency situations, conduct risk assessments (e.g., suicide risk), and develop safety/relapse prevention plans.
  • Perform effective and efficient administrative responsibilities.
  • Applicant needs to have the years of clinical experience to train and supervise Master's level graduate student trainees.

  • Clinical work experience in a college counseling setting.
  • Experience working with an EMR system.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience; coordinator/management of a program.

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight for all aspects of Counseling Services' internship/practicum training program which includes: Onboarding all new interns.
  • Provide weekly individual and group supervision for interns.
  • Update intern manual annually.
  • Create and execute didactic training schedule.
  • Outcome assessment of program.
  • Build and maintain relationships with regional graduate program fieldwork coordinators.
  • Review contracts and ensure compliance with affiliation agreements.
  • Recruit and interview new applicants etc.
  • Provides individual, couples, and group counseling for students and maintains appropriate records.
  • Participates in daytime on-call rotation and assists students who are in crisis and present to the center as high-risk.
  • Leads Counseling Services in developing trainings to meet the clinical training needs of the center, with a focus on providing culturally competent care to a diverse student body.
  • Assists Director in providing leadership in crisis intervention and prevention practices to the University community and will fill in in the Director's absence as needed.
  • Works with the Director and staff to continually monitor, assess, and change, as needed, clinical systems within the counseling center.
  • Participates in Outreach/Programming/Training events.
  • Serve on Campus Life Committees.
