About The Position

The Coordinator of the IS After School Math and Language Arts program at South Fayette Township School District is responsible for coordinating an after-school instructional program for students in grades 3, 4, and 5 who need support in meeting proficiency with Pennsylvania Core/Academic Standards in Math and/or Language Arts. The program aims to address instructional needs identified through student achievement data, such as PSSA exam results. The coordinator will work with teachers and the Building Principal to develop instructional plans, monitor student progress, communicate with parents, and oversee the delivery of instruction, which may be virtual, brick and mortar, or blended.

Requirements

  • Valid PA Instructional Certificate and/or Educational Specialist Certificate For Elementary or Mid-Level
  • Interested in coordinating an Intermediate School after school tutoring program for students who need support in meeting proficiency with Pennsylvania Core/ Academic Standards in Math and/or Language Arts

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate an after-school instructional program for students who have not demonstrated proficiency on the Spring exam PSSA in the area of Math and/or Language Arts.
  • Assist teachers in developing a plan and sequence of instruction that addresses the instructional needs of the students enrolled in the program.
  • Coordinate after-school instructional activities on the identified Pennsylvania Core Academic Standards as indicated in student achievement data.
  • Coordinate student enrollment, assess students’ progress and provide appropriate documentation on behalf of the teachers and students participating in the program.
  • Contact parents/guardians as appropriate to ensure appropriate student enrollment and participation.
  • Schedule a meeting with the Building Principal and tutoring faculty to determine the needs of the students based on achievement data.
  • Develop a schedule of instruction that identifies how student academic needs will be addressed during the after-school instruction, ensuring it meets the instructional needs of enrolled students for 30 sessions on the identified days.
  • Coordinate an effective method of communication between parents and tutoring faculty regarding student academic performance.
  • Coordinate appropriate assessment of student academic performance and ensure tutoring faculties maintain an assessment portfolio indicating student progress.
  • Oversee the reunification of students with parents and/or guardians after tutoring sessions.
  • Coordinate the appropriate instructional delivery method for tutoring, this may include virtual, brick and mortar or a blended instructional approach.
