About The Position

To provide after-school instruction to third, fourth and fifth grade students who scored basic or below basic on the Mathematics PSSA tests. To develop a plan that addresses the instructional needs of the individual student in math. To coordinate after-school instruction with the classroom teacher, IST teacher and parents. To assess student progress and provide appropriate documentation.

Requirements

• Valid PA Instructional Certificate — Elementary or Mid-Level Mathematics
• Interest in teaching math

Responsibilities

• Schedule a meeting with the classroom teacher and parents to discuss the student's needs.
• Develop a written instructional plan that identifies skills that will be addressed during the after-school instruction. The student's needs will be based on the PSSA results and/or Curriculum Based Assessment.
• Provide after-school instruction to students two days per week for one hour.
• Schedule after-school instruction and notify the parents of the specific times and dates of the program.
• Develop a method of communicating student academic performance to the parents.
• Assess student academic performance on a regular basis.
• Maintain an assessment portfolio that documents the progress of the student in meeting the identified goals addressed in the plan.
• Coordinate the appropriate instructional delivery method for tutoring, this may include virtual, brick and mortar or a blended instructional approach.
