About The Position

The Office of the Registrar at James Madison University is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Transfer Credit team as a Coordinator of Special Population Transitions. This role involves coordinating the receipt and review of transcripts for various special populations, assigning credit, counseling students and advisors, and maintaining student records. The position also supports the Veterans Benefits Team with analysis of prior learning credits and reporting.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Ability to handle and prioritize a large volume of work.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student record.
  • Ability to work independently but seek advice and direction from supervisor as needed.
  • Ability to serve constituents in personable and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate receipt/review of transcripts for admitted special populations such as Student Athletes, Adult Degree, Military, RN to BSN and international students.
  • Review course descriptions and consult with academic departments to assign credit to a JMU equivalent course.
  • Counsel prospective students and advisors on transfer policies.
  • Post credit to matriculated students’ official record using the student administration system.
  • Coordinate transfer credit requests for continuing special population students.
  • Assist in updating the Transfer Credit Equivalency Guide using the Transfer Evaluation System.
  • Support the Veterans Benefits Team by analyzing prior learning credits and executing student enrollment reporting within VA's Enrollment Manager system.
