About The Position

Coordinate oversight of athletic event operations, including varsity game operations, athletic camps, and special events in conjunction with athletic facilities. Primary contact for all Athletic Facility scheduling, as well as overall responsibility for scheduling software and reservation processes. Serve as secondary contact for athletics with the University’s physical plant operation for athletic projects and facility maintenance issues, as well as other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Event Operations. Offers are determined based on a review of the candidate's qualifications, including education, training, experience, and internal pay equity considerations. The salary range for this position is $28.25 - $32.08 per hour. This is a non-exempt position. Placement within the range will generally be based on the following factors: Entry-Range: Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and core requirements of the position. Mid-Range: Candidates with three or more years of directly related professional experience and demonstrated proficiency in the key responsibilities of the role. Top-Step: Candidates with seven or more years of directly related experience, advanced knowledge, specialized skills, certifications, or expertise that provide significant value to the position. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's overall qualifications, experience, and alignment with the University's compensation philosophy. The selected candidate for this position must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire without employer assistance or sponsorship now or in the future. The university will not assist with any F1 EAD’s, OPT, H1B, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or at least two years of college, and currently working on completing a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum: Two years of athletic events, camps, and/or athletic facility management experience.
  • Revenue generation experience
  • Job requires excellent organizational & communication skills (both written and oral), the ability to effectively manage staff in event operations, facilities management, and athletic camp settings, and the ability to provide solid customer service to diverse constituents and user groups.
  • Must be proactive and able to work collaboratively with multiple user groups, demonstrating confidence and knowledge of how events and facilities operate.
  • Must be able to work varied hours, which include weekends, nights, and travel when required.
  • Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire without employer assistance or sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of event/game management responsibilities in concert with the Assistant AD for Facilities and Event Ops.
  • Serve as the department’s primary liaison with campus & community partners for special events & projects.
  • Work in conjunction with athletic coaches and other university staff to plan, coordinate, market, and stage university-sponsored sports camps.
  • Assist the Manager for Athletic Facilities on all Physical Plant & IT work orders and project coordination.
  • Serve as athletic department liaison to NCAA, GLIAC, CCHA, MHSAA, and outside groups for all special event bids and hosting opportunities.
  • Responsible for oversight of facility scheduling of non-ice facilities and creating and maintaining a positive environment between all campus & community user groups.
  • Provide scheduling and revenue-producing oversight in billing and accounts receivable, where all non-ice athletic facility rental income is concerned.
  • Develop, supervise, and implement an internship program for operations & facilities.
  • Provide statistical analyses and prepare reports.
  • Assist as needed with facility management, athletic ticketing, and overall event operations, including facility tournament administration.
  • Assist the Athletics Office Manager with maintaining accurate and complete financial accounts, as well as the preparation of budget reports.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with university policies and applicable laws.

  • Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
  • Operates a university or personal vehicle safely while carrying out job responsibilities. Will authorize, pursuant to university policies and procedures, a driving record check, and will meet the driving authorization requirements through the course of employment in a position where you are authorized to drive a vehicle as part of our duties
  • Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
  • Represent Ferris State athletics by serving on various committees and/or attending meetings at the request of the Athletic Director and the Assistant AD for Facilities & Operations.
  • Assist in the coordination of athletic camp payroll, employment processes, and submission of all necessary camp personnel forms and paperwork.
