About The Position

To provide ELA curriculum and instructional support to secondary school administrators, K-12 librarians, secondary ELA school teaching staff, and the community.

Requirements

Virginia postgraduate professional teaching license
Master’s Degree in curriculum and instruction, administration and supervision, or related field
Minimum of five years successful teaching experience at the secondary level
Extensive knowledge of best practices in ELA; the Virginia Literacy Act; and the Science of Reading

Nice To Haves

Administrative or supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

Demonstrates expertise and maintains competence in secondary ELA and tiered systems of support.
Provides support and coaching to teachers, coaches, and administrators for the delivery of an effective instructional program.
Facilitates the development and implementation of curriculum, professional learning, and instructional programs.
Coordinates district-wide programs as assigned.
Uses data to assess program efficacy and to drive instructional improvement.
Monitors federal and state requirements, and supervises the implementation of changes to curriculum or instructional programs.
Researches and evaluates evidence-based practices to support instructional programs.
Monitors and evaluates instructional programs and achievement of division objectives.
Prepares reports on the effectiveness of efficiency of the instructional program.
Makes recommendations toward issues concerning textbooks, resources, budgeting, and organizational priorities in support of the division’s strategic plan.
Assists with the recruiting and interviewing of instructional personnel.
Other duties as assigned through the immediate supervisor.
