About The Position

The Coordinator, Health Sciences Advancement supports the mission of Stony Brook Medicine Advancement by strengthening fundraising and engagement efforts across the Health Sciences Center (HSC). The Coordinator will work collaboratively with Data Services, Development, and Alumni Relations, while also supporting broader Medicine Advancement priorities, donor engagement activities, and fundraising efforts across the HSC team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
  • Two (2) years of full-time professional work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in higher education, non-profit, government or municipal environments, large healthcare systems, and/or related fields.
  • Experience in fundraising, advancement, sales, hospitality, events, or a related field.
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or diverse groups of individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for development staff, including scheduling donor meetings, preparing related materials and updating Raiser’s Edge.
  • Support the Health Sciences team by preparing reports, agendas, briefing materials, and coordinating meeting logistics.
  • Maintain accurate donor and alumni data in Advancement systems, tracking engagement, event attendance, and stewardship activity.
  • Assist in compiling reports and follow-up communications that advance donor cultivation and stewardship cycles.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Stony Brook Medicine Advancement and University/Health Sciences structure, including key stakeholders, departments, and processes, to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
  • Assist the Health Sciences Development team to achieve specific and measurable goals and objectives.
  • Willingness to speak with external prospects, donors, and internal partners such as faculty, staff, and fundraisers in order to cultivate, qualify and steward donors.
  • Assist with requesting meetings and coordinating outreach with members of the HSC advancement team.
  • Maintain a small portfolio of prospects in the Health Sciences and solicit them for gifts.
  • Participate in ongoing training and collaboration with the HSC, Medicine and University Advancement teams to ensure alignment with fundraising priorities.
  • Provide logistical support for donor engagement activities, including the coordination of donor meetings.
  • Work closely with the Grateful Patient and Health Sciences Center fundraising teams on shared initiatives.
  • Embrace opportunities for continuous improvement and apply best practices to enhance team effectiveness and fundraising outcomes.
  • Attend appropriate alumni, college, and university events to advance prospect or donor relationships.
  • Establish positive working relationships with key internal and external partners.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Benefits

  • $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
