About The Position

This is a full-time continuing staff position responsible for coordinating student engagement and leadership initiatives. The role involves serving as a primary contact for student clubs and organizations, providing support for event planning and implementation, co-advising student government and activities boards, and assisting with various campus programming. The position also includes administrative duties, social media content creation, publishing a newsletter, coordinating involvement fairs, managing shared spaces, and facilitating leadership workshops. Additionally, the role supports leadership development programs, co-curricular assessment, and delivery of required student trainings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree augmented by well-rounded and active participation in college co-curricular activities
  • Work or graduate experience in areas of student affairs, student leadership, or campus activities
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising
  • Experience developing, marketing, and implementing programming for target audiences
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of student activities support programs at higher education institutions.
  • Knowledge of student personnel and leadership development programs and techniques.
  • Knowledge of community college engagement.
  • Ability to evaluate programming needs, appreciate differences among populations and establish effective interpersonal working relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Ability to lead students in discussion and decision making.
  • Ability to develop and deliver formal presentations.
  • Ability to facilitate mediation/conflict management techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for student clubs and organizations.
  • Update and maintain membership rosters, process activity request forms daily, and mediate conflicts as needed.
  • Meet with students to provide technical and logistical support for event planning and implementation, including budgeting, advertising, set-up, adherence to campus guidelines, etc.
  • Act as a co-adviser for Lakeland Student Government (LSG) and Campus Activities Board (CAB).
  • Provide training, budget oversight, event implementation and operational support for officers, members, and student-led programming.
  • Assist with the coordination of small-scale programming for the entire student body such as Lakers Crew, Welcome Week, Scavenger Hunts, Fall Fest, Spring Fling, Commencement Flower Sales, Finals Week Stress Relievers, Themed Athletic Events, etc.
  • Provide administrative support for activities including reserving space (25Live), submitting facilities/maintenance requests (SchoolDude), making purchases (Clockshop) and placing food orders (Breakers or outside vendor).
  • Create content for SEAL’s social media platforms in collaboration with student ambassadors.
  • Stay current with trends and tools to engage Lakeland’s student population.
  • Publish the Campus Connection E-Newsletter.
  • Develop specialized editions focused on educational initiatives, student success stories, and campus accolades.
  • Coordinate semesterly Campus Involvement Fairs to connect students with clubs, organizations, and campus and community resources.
  • Manage event planning, outreach, marketing, and logistics to support student engagement and involvement.
  • Develop guidelines and expectations for shared spaces.
  • Manage the Creation Hub by overseeing equipment, coordinating reservations, and establishing policies.
  • Provide oversight for the S-211 student lounge and S-217 student collaboration space.
  • Design and facilitate Inter-Club Council (ICC) leadership workshops for all student organization members and advisors.
  • Review Clery Act and reporting responsibilities, executive board guidance, elections, fundraising, budgets, purchases, social media, conflict resolution, and planning events both on and off campus.
  • Organize the Student Leader and Organization Awards Ceremony.
  • Solicit and review nominations, select and present awards to winners.
  • Coordinate invitations, awards, food, and post-ceremony activities.
  • Support the facilitation of formal student leadership and peer mentorship programs, and other leadership development programs.
  • Contribute to co-curricular assessment efforts by collecting data, developing learning outcomes, and evaluating programs to ensure they meet student needs.
  • Assist in the delivery of required student trainings, including topics such as anti-hazing (Collin’s Law), Title IX, sexual misconduct prevention, alcohol and drug education, suicide prevention, financial literacy, civic engagement, and mandated reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
