About The Position

This role is responsible for overseeing the Town’s physical security infrastructure and operational readiness across Town-owned and operated facilities. You will monitor and maintain security systems, coordinate incident response activities, and support the ongoing safety and resilience of municipal facilities through proactive security operations and technical system oversight. You will be responsible for administering CCTV and access control systems, supporting emergency response activities, and ensuring compliance with corporate security and privacy protocols.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma in Law Enforcement, Security Management, Police Foundations, Criminology or a closely related field
  • Valid Security Guard Licence in accordance with the Ontario Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005, S.O. 2005, c. 34
  • Active CPR & First Aid Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience in security system installation and maintenance
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience in enforcement, preferably within a municipal environment
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in central alarm monitoring, dispatch, control room operations, or mobile and foot patrol security positions
  • Demonstrated experience operating and monitoring CCTV systems, access control systems, intrusion alarms, and other computerized security technologies
  • Experience responding to emergencies and preparing detailed incident reports
  • Superior communication and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check
  • Proof of qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the Town’s CCTV video surveillance, access control, alarm, and security monitoring systems to support operational readiness and facility security
  • Coordinate and respond to security incidents, alarms, public inquiries, emergency situations, and requests for CCTV footage in accordance with corporate policies and legal requirements
  • Monitor and troubleshoot security technology systems, conduct audits of cameras and access devices, and coordinate repairs and upgrades with vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Support emergency preparedness initiatives including fire drills, lockdowns, evacuations, and security planning for Town-organized events and community activities
  • Investigate incidents, prepare reports and weekly summaries, oversee third-party security providers, and support enforcement activities including court attendance when required
