Responsible for managing the employee leave of absence process and workers’ compensation self-insured program. This role manages all New York State Disability claims, NYSPFL claims, long-term disability, no-fault, and supplemental short-term disability claims. The position also manages the agency’s workers’ compensation program, exercising independent judgment in determining compensability of claims and assisting claims adjusters to resolve claims. It involves logging workers’ compensation injuries, tracking, accident follow-up, and analyzing claims experience. The coordinator communicates with employees, supervisors, claims adjusters, medical providers, case managers, and legal counsel regarding agency policies, leave status, and return-to-work programs. Additionally, this role provides accurate PTO and Health Reserve payment information to the Payroll team, supplies workers’ compensation injury data to the safety committee for trend analysis and loss control, coordinates the sharps container process, handles annual OSHA reporting, and manages the PTO buyback process. The position requires compliance with all Agency policies and procedures, and may involve other duties as assigned.
