About The Position

Assists the Athletics Department in all aspects of the comprehensive compliance program including rules education, monitoring, and enforcement to ensure compliance with University, Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. This role contributes to creating and maintaining institutional control in all aspects of NCAA, Conference, and NSU Athletics compliance. It involves monitoring playing and practice season requirements, coordinating approvals for visits, camps, clinics, and tryouts, and assisting with the incoming student matriculation process. The position also tracks prospective student-athletes, aids with NCAA eligibility certification and transcript evaluations, and oversees the student-athlete notification of transfer process. Additionally, it involves updating compliance software and databases, assisting in rules education programs, and providing interpretations of conference and NCAA rules. The role also includes completing special projects and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of all NCAA rules and regulations regarding compliance issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access).

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • One (1) year of experience working in compliance or a comparable department unit.

Nice To Haves

  • One to two (1-2) years of experience working in compliance at the NCAA Division II level.
  • Experience utilizing a compliance software system (e.g., NCAA CAi, ARMS, Teamworks, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to creating and maintaining institutional control in all aspects of NCAA, Conference, and NSU Athletics compliance.
  • Monitors playing and practice season requirements including the declaration of playing and practice seasons and tracking of countable athletic related activities.
  • Coordinates approval of official visits, camps, and clinics hosted by NSU coaching staff.
  • Coordinates approval of tryouts for prospective student-athletes and currently enrolled students.
  • Assists with incoming student matriculation process.
  • Monitors, tracks, and updates the coaching staff on status of prospective student-athletes through the NCAA eligibility center.
  • Assists with NCAA athletics eligibility certification.
  • Assists with the submission of preliminary transcript evaluations.
  • Oversees the student-athlete notification of transfer process.
  • Updates software and other compliance office databases related to coaching staff and roster management.
  • Assists in planning and implementation of a comprehensive rules education program for coaches, other athletic staff, and athletes to ensure compliance with University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Assists in providing interpretations of conference and NCAA rules to coaches and non-coaching staff members.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
