About The Position

The Palliative Care (PC) Education Programs’ Coordination Specialist will oversee the creation, management and updating of the courses as well as other daily operational activities for the PC Education Programs (IPCC/MSPC). The Coordination Specialist role requires leadership skills in Instructional Technology (Canvas) to support the directors, faculty, and students to be successful in an online environment. The PC Education Programs prepare providers—physicians, nurses (including BSN and advanced practice nurses), physician assistants, pharmacists, social workers, spiritual care providers, psychologists, therapists, counselors, and ethicists—to be Palliative Care Community Specialists (PCCS).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) year of professional experience providing higher administrative support (for Intermediate Level).
  • Two (2) years of professional experience providing higher administrative support (for Senior Level).
  • A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • An advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail including knowledge of money handling and mathematics.
  • Strong knowledge of general office procedures, protocol, and professionalism.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Concur Travel and Expense System.
  • Experience in the Designer or Teacher role on the Canvas education platform.
  • Experience using the University of Colorado Procurement and Financial Systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
  • Administrative experience in Higher Education.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the production of courses.
  • Ensure Canvas Courses are free of errors.
  • Smooth organized appearance of Courses for students/faculty in Canvas.
  • Ensure prompt and cooperative completion of tasks given by PC Education Team.
  • Oversee faculty for administrative needs for content, announcements, assignments, and lesson materials within each course of the MSPC.
  • Collaborate with PC Education content experts (biomedical and allied health) to ensure the course materials are best practices, relevant and accessible to students.
  • Ensure that PC Education courses are updated to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance as set forth by the University of Colorado.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to prepare posters, reports, academic papers, presentations, and program newsletters using PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Canva and other information technology as required
  • Assist with monitoring social media (i.e., LinkedIn) accounts including approving posts under the supervision of the program director and/or the program manager
  • Assist with event coordination (conferences, graduation events, etc.)
