About The Position

Facilitates excellent customer service and proficiently processes request for radiological exams. Obtains all pertinent information needed to schedule radiological procedures within Shands @ UF Healthcare. Effectively communicates with clinics, physicians, technical staff, and patients. Protects the fiscal interest of the enterprise by reviewing orders for completeness and by comparing requested exam to reason stated for the exam to verify compatibility. Competent in following compliance procedures, keeps up to date with all revisions. Displays proficiency in the RMS (scheduling), HIS, Document Imaging, Web based appointment and medical necessity compliance checking systems. Has a working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, ICD-9 and CPT coding.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Excellent communication, behavioral and problem solving skills must be demonstrated.
  • Attention to detail and being able to produce high quality and quantity of work is required.
  • Learning, mastering and keeping current on vast amounts of scheduling criteria is required.
  • Must be comfortable requesting and giving information to clinics, physicians, patients, and technical/clinical staff.
  • The ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, problem solve and function in a team environment are necessary attributes.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer two years of hospital or medical practice clerical experience.
  • Having a sound working knowledge of and/or course work in; medical terminology, basic anatomy, CPT and ICD-9 coding preferred.
  • HIS, RMS, Shands Portal, Medical Necessity checking software, Document Imaging and related system knowledge preferred.
