About The Position

The Cooking Tech 1 position performs the cooking of various meat products under the supervision and direction of the Pit Supervisor. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

• Must be able to stand between 2 – 3 hours at a time
• Must be willing to follow all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) of the company which include but are not limited to: use of a hair net, use of gloves, use of a company approved frock and rubber boots, no jewelry, no nail polish or artificial nails, no shorts, no open-toed shoes, no ripped clothing or rhinestones/glitter on clothing, no chewing gum, candy or tobacco.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
• The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent use/motion of hands, wrists and arms are required
• The employee is often required to stoop, kneel, crouch or bend
• The employee will frequently handle both cold and hot meat products (protective gloves are provided)

Responsibilities

• Performs the loading of raw meat product onto racks located inside the pits
• Performs the unloading of cooked meat product out of the pits and onto racks
• Identifies products and distinguishes between species
• Performs the cleaning/washing down of a pit
• Assembles and disassembles the racks inside the pits
• Performs daily inspection of the bushings, pins and washers on the racks
• Transports racks full of meat from pits to the scale, and then to the chill cell
• Must be able to stand between 2 – 3 hours at a time
