About The Position

The Cook supports Food City’s mission to “Run the Best Store in Town” by preparing quality food and products for the Food Service department while providing prompt, courteous customer service. The role helps maintain a friendly, fun, and customer-first atmosphere through teamwork and a positive attitude. Food Service Associates may be cross-trained in multiple areas with varying responsibilities.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Ability to meet standard physical, mental, and visual demands.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks.
Ability to have constant contact and interaction with individuals at various levels on a daily basis.
Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and adhere to company time and attendance policies.

Nice To Haves

Food Service experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, courteous, and efficient customer service by greeting and speaking with customers.
Prepare food for the Food Service department according to manual guidelines, when applicable.
Prepare and produce quality food and products that meet or exceed customer and company expectations.
Prepare grill orders and use the fryer according to manual guidelines.
Slice meats and cheeses.
Assist with proper rotation of products in coolers and freezers and maintain good product code dates.
Put up stock.
Follow the company Food Safety program.
Keep the workstation and surrounding area neat and clean, including washing dishes, mopping, and maintaining ventilation.
Assist with ordering products and supplies needed for daily operations.
Help ensure packaged self-service products have appropriate packaging, accurate weights, and correct ingredients to satisfy local weights and measures regulations.
Work in multiple areas as needed after cross-training.
