The Cook Chill Food Production Center is located on the grounds of the Maplehurst Correctional Facility; however, Cook Chill operates as an independent production facility and is separate from Maplehurst Corrections. There are no inmates on site at any time, and Civeo Premium associates do not have any interaction with, nor access to, inmates. The company is seeking a Cook who will safely operate, properly use, and maintain cleanliness of all job-specific equipment while preparing food according to established standards. In this role, you will help ensure a safe and sanitary work environment by promoting the use of required PPE and maintaining strict adherence to the Health & Safety Program, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS regulations, HACCP standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, food production, institutional food service, or manufacturing environment is required, including the safe operation of food production or kitchen equipment in accordance with sanitation and food safety standards.
  • Physically capable of performing all assigned duties, including lifting a minimum of 25 lbs; lifting from floor to waist and waist to shoulder; bending, twisting, and reaching at or above shoulder height; standing for the entire shift; and pushing or pulling carts and wheeled equipment.
  • Ability to work in a cold environment for the full duration of the shift and to comply with two-person lift procedures for all bins.
  • Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, manage responsibilities with minimal supervision, and adapt to changing work routines or priorities.
  • Strong working knowledge of food safety standards, procedures, and equipment use.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with a positive attitude and a genuine commitment to customer service.
  • Solid understanding of HACCP requirements and occupational health and safety responsibilities.
  • Must wear appropriate, job-specific personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Must obtain Advanced Food Safety Training (FST) certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of drug and alcohol screening, vulnerable sector check, criminal record check, and any other required security clearances.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a regulated environment with strong compliance to HACCP, GMP, WHMIS, and occupational health and safety requirements is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and clean all assigned equipment according to approved procedures and the Sanitation Manual.
  • Use and maintain all required PPE, including safety footwear, uniforms, cut‑resistant gloves, goggles, sleeve guards, and hair/beard nets.
  • Follow and enforce all Workplace Health & Safety Program requirements, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS regulations, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard‑free work environment at all times.
  • Report accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly and support workplace investigations.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including a strict no‑jewelry policy.
  • Comply with facility procedures such as key control, sharp control, and tool‑shadow board requirements.
  • Use proper tools for accurate portioning and task completion.
  • Set up and maintain workstations with correct ergonomics and safe configuration.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to support safe, efficient operations.
  • Perform assigned duties according to scheduled hours, priorities, and production needs.
  • Follow assigned work schedules and break periods.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
