About The Position

Benchmark at Alexandria is seeking an on-call Cook to prepare delicious, nutritious meals for residents. The Cook prepares food in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as well as established Benchmark policies and procedures. The Food Services Director oversees these duties to ensure quality food service at all times. The role offers schedule-stabilizing hours and requires a commitment to quality cuisine, a positive and energetic presence, and effective teamwork.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of dietary experience.
• Knowledge of dietary procedures and related laws, regulations, and guidelines for food service operations.
• Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods; the position is primarily standing.

Responsibilities

• Follow all dietary procedures.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including equipment such as meat slicers, food processors, mixers, ovens, grills, steamers, dishwashers, dumb waiters, and warmer cabinets.
• Assist in establishing the food production line to ensure meals are prepared on time.
• Represent the community positively and with pride when interacting with potential residents and families.
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals with high-quality presentation and flavor.
