About The Position

The Cook supports Food City’s mission to “Run the Best Store in Town” by preparing quality food and products for the Food Service department and providing prompt, courteous, and efficient customer service. The role contributes to a friendly, fun, customer-first environment through a positive attitude, flexibility, and teamwork. Food Service Associates may be cross-trained in multiple areas with varying responsibilities. The position requires on-site attendance during scheduled shifts.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Ability to meet standard physical, mental, and visual demands.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks.
Ability to interact daily with various levels of individuals.
Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and adhere to company time and attendance policies.

Nice To Haves

Food Service experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, courteous, efficient customer service and maintain a positive, friendly, and fun atmosphere.
Prepare Food Service department food according to applicable manual guidelines.
Produce quality food and products that meet or exceed customer and company expectations.
Prepare grill orders and use the fryer according to manual guidelines.
Slice meats and cheeses.
Assist with proper product rotation in coolers and freezers and maintain product code dates.
Put up stock.
Follow the company Food Safety program.
Keep the workstation and surrounding area neat and clean, including washing dishes, mopping, and maintaining ventilation.
Assist with ordering products and supplies needed for daily operations.
Help ensure packaged self-service products have appropriate packaging, weights, and ingredients in compliance with local weights and measures regulations.
Cross-train in multiple areas with varying responsibilities.
