Nursing Home Cook
About The Position
Southbridge Rehabilitation & Health Care Center is seeking a dynamic and experienced Cook to join its culinary team. The Cook prepares high-quality food for residents, helps meet their nutritional needs, and provides exceptional customer service. The position is full-time, with per-diem openings also available, and pays $17.50 per hour weekly. The listed shift is 12:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The facility requires staff to be up to date with COVID and flu vaccinations or to acknowledge a declination of the vaccination(s), in accordance with federal and state guidelines. Requirements
- One year of dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or related medical facility is preferred but not necessary; training may be provided to the right candidate.
- Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to make independent decisions, deal tactfully with personnel, residents, and visitors, and demonstrate leadership ability.
- Knowledge of dining service procedures and related laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Ability to maintain supplies, equipment, and work areas.
- Patient, tactful, and enthusiastic, with a cheerful disposition.

Responsibilities
- Prepare food according to standardized recipes and menu plans, following therapeutic diets ordered by physicians.
- Ensure food is served at proper temperatures and has appropriate visual appeal and portion control.
- Monitor daily nourishments, follow sanitation and storage policies, and maintain a clean, organized kitchen.
- Follow dining service procedures and applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Use leadership skills and work harmoniously with, and supervise, professional and non-professional personnel.
