About The Position

Indiana Masonic Home Compass Park is hiring a Cook for its Food Service Team in Franklin, Indiana. The Cook prepares entrees, vegetables, and specials according to standardized procedures; sets up workstations and prepares ingredients; checks ingredient quality and storage; monitors stock; and follows sanitation, food-safety, infection-control, and equipment-cleaning procedures. The position is located at Compass Park, a 320-acre community in Johnson County adjacent to Indianapolis.

Requirements

• Cook experience.
• Experience using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware.
• Knowledge of cooking procedures and methods such as grilling, baking, and boiling.
• Good communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• A diploma from a culinary school is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Operate and clean equipment according to department procedures after each use.
• Follow Board of Health and department sanitation procedures and maintain a clean, sanitary working environment.
• Apply infection-control and sanitation practices when handling food, including proper food temperatures, hand washing, glove use, and food dating when required.
• Identify and use cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer directions and MSDS sheets.
• Prepare entrees, vegetables, and specials according to standardized procedures.
• Set up workstations with the necessary ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Prepare cooking ingredients, including chopping and peeling vegetables and cutting meat.
• Store food and other items properly and check ingredient quality.
• Monitor stock and notify the chef or director of shortages or needed items.
