About The Position

Carriage Inn Katy, part of Cardinal Bay, is seeking a part-time Cook to prepare meals for residents and contribute to a restaurant- or country-club-style dining experience. The Cook works with the culinary team and may collaborate with the Culinary Director, while interacting with residents and helping create meals that nourish and delight them. The organization provides professional vendor ingredients, menu and food-production technology, and clear instructions for meeting residents’ dietary needs. Shifts are 10:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 6:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, with weekend and holiday shifts on rotation. The role includes preparing and cooking a range of foods, following resident dietary restrictions, maintaining food quality and presentation, keeping the kitchen clean and orderly, and using inventory efficiently.

Requirements

At least 6 months of prep cook experience is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively with residents and colleagues.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to speak, read, and write English.
Willingness to undergo a routine background check.

Responsibilities

Prepare or assist in preparing complete meals, including soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, and baked goods.
Comply with residents’ special dietary needs and restrictions, following provided instructions.
Prepare gravies, sauces, and menu items from scratch.
Dress and present dishes before serving.
Monitor food temperature, taste, and quality; taste food and adjust as necessary.
Maintain a sanitized, orderly kitchen and ensure equipment is clean, working properly, and turned off before closing.
Use inventory appropriately to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
Communicate and interact with residents and colleagues.
