About The Position

The Cook prepares and serves meals for residents and staff at a senior living community, providing efficient, timely, and friendly service. The role maintains sanitation and safety procedures and supports high-quality food preparation and presentation. The Cook follows recipes for consistent results, prepares assigned breakfast, lunch, or dinner items, and helps meet or exceed residents’ dining expectations. The position also involves ordering, receiving, and rotating stock in coordination with the Food Service Director. Other relevant duties may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements

• At least one year of cooking experience, including some short-order cooking and quantity cooking.
• Possess Serv-Safe certification or be willing to obtain it upon hire.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing and comprehend communications.
• Be willing to learn new food preparation techniques and presentation.
• Have knowledge of residents’ special dietary needs and required meal preparation techniques.
• Work effectively as part of a team and display team behaviors.
• Effectively deal with conflict or customer complaints.
• Focus on multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Follow all food safety and equipment safety procedures.
• Know and comply with community quality standards and requirements.
• Be able to cook short-order items.
• Be dependable, punctual, self-motivated, and able to work without constant supervision.

Responsibilities

• Order, receive, and rotate stock in conjunction with the Food Service Director.
• Read and follow recipes to ensure consistency of the product.
• Prepare and serve food items for breakfast, lunch, or dinner as assigned.
• Assist with meeting or exceeding resident dining expectations.
• Perform other relevant duties as required or assigned by the Supervisor.
