About The Position

The Cook prepares food and products for Food City's Food Service department according to company guidelines and food safety procedures. The role provides courteous, efficient customer service and helps create a friendly, positive, and fun environment through teamwork and flexibility. Food Service Associates may be cross-trained in multiple areas with varying responsibilities.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Ability to meet standard physical, mental, and visual demands.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions and perform routine, repetitive tasks.
Ability to have constant contact and interaction with various levels of individuals on a daily basis.
Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and adhere to company time and attendance policies.

Nice To Haves

Food Service experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, courteous, and efficient customer service; greet and speak with customers.
Prepare Food Service department food according to manual guidelines, when applicable.
Prepare and produce quality food and products that meet or exceed customer and company expectations.
Prepare grill orders and use the fryer according to manual guidelines.
Slice meats and cheeses.
Assist with product rotation in coolers and freezers and maintain product code dates.
Put up stock.
Follow the company Food Safety program.
Keep the workstation and surrounding area neat and clean, including washing dishes, mopping, and maintaining ventilation.
Assist with ordering products and supplies needed for daily operations.
Help ensure packaged self-service products have proper packaging, weights, and ingredients to comply with local weights and measures regulations.
Work flexibly and as part of a team; expect cross-training in multiple areas.
