About The Position

The Cook prepares and presents meals and snacks for clients, families, and guests in accordance with Newport Healthcare’s culinary standards, while helping provide a friendly dining environment. The role executes menus created by the Chef de Cuisine, accommodates communicated dietary restrictions and preferences, and prepares healthful, nutritious, and organic meals and snacks as directed. The Cook also supports special events and cooking or baking groups and maintains kitchen cleanliness and compliance with health and hygiene requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
One to three years of applicable experience required.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

State Food Safety Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Open and close the kitchen as needed.
Prepare and present breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks daily.
Prepare and present food for parent weekends and other special events as directed.
Execute the menu generated by the Chef de Cuisine.
Follow communicated dietary restrictions and preferences of clients; provide healthful, nutritious, and organic meals and snacks as directed.
Maintain overall kitchen cleanliness, including refrigerators, freezers, ovens, floors, and dishes after each meal and food-preparation period.
Ensure the kitchen complies with state health and hygiene requirements and Newport Healthcare standards.
Interact positively with parents and other guests and build appropriate rapport with clients to enhance positive associations with mealtimes.
Participate in baking or cooking groups as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
