About The Position

The Cook prepares food and products for Food City’s Food Service department, following department manuals and the company’s food safety program. The role focuses on producing quality food, providing prompt and courteous customer service, and maintaining a clean, well-organized workstation. Food Service Associates may be cross-trained in multiple areas with varying responsibilities.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to meet standard physical, mental, and visual demands.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
• Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks.
• Ability to maintain constant contact and interaction with individuals at various levels on a daily basis.
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and adhere to company time and attendance policies.

Nice To Haves

• Food Service experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient, courteous, and friendly customer service, greeting and speaking with customers.
• Help create a positive, friendly, and fun working environment through flexibility and teamwork.
• Prepare Food Service items according to manual guidelines, when applicable.
• Prepare and produce quality food and products that meet or exceed customer and company expectations.
• Prepare grill orders and use the fryer according to manual guidelines.
• Slice meats and cheeses.
• Assist with proper product rotation in coolers and freezers and maintain product code dates.
• Put up stock.
• Follow the company Food Safety program.
• Keep the workstation and surrounding area neat and clean, including washing dishes, mopping, and cleaning ventilation.
• Assist with ordering products and supplies needed for daily operations.
• Help ensure packaged self-service products have the proper packaging, accurate weights, and ingredients to comply with local weights and measures regulations.
• Attend on-site work during scheduled shifts in accordance with company time and attendance policies.
• Cross-train in multiple areas with varying responsibilities.
