About The Position

The Cook at The Legacy of Orangeburg, a community of Navion Senior Living, prepares and serves fresh, appealing meals for residents. The role contributes to a welcoming dining experience and helps ensure residents receive high-quality service. The position is part-time on the day shift. Team members can use Tapcheck, a mobile app that provides access to earned wages before payday.

Requirements

• Maintain a current ServSafe food-services sanitation certificate or be able to participate in training to become ServSafe certified.
• High school diploma or GED accepted.
• At least one year of job-related experience, including food preparation, full-line menu items, and therapeutic diets.
• Must be at least 16 years old; in North Carolina, must be at least 18 to operate power-driven machines such as a meat slicer or mixer.
• Ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents without posing a substantial safety or health threat to self or others.
• Ability to work well with others and promote a team environment.

Nice To Haves

• Culinary apprenticeship or training preferred.
• Three years of experience in a healthcare, hospitality, or service environment preferred.
• Culinary arts experience preferred.
• CPR and First-Aid certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare palatable foods that are appetizing in appearance.
• Help prepare and serve meals for residents.
• Follow safety and sanitary requirements.
• Learn basic tasks and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Provide pleasant, friendly, helpful, proper, and timely service.
• Maintain a well-groomed appearance and follow dress requirements.
• Work well with others and promote a team environment.
