About The Position

Altamaha Health Center in Jesup, Georgia, is hiring a Cook for the day shift, from 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Cook / Dietary Aide prepares and portions food for regular and therapeutic diets according to planned menus, ensuring residents receive meals prescribed by their physicians. The role follows food-safety and infection-control procedures, maintains food temperatures, records food and storage temperatures, and helps prepare and check meal trays. The position also includes cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, work areas, and equipment; maintaining the dishwashing area; following cleaning schedules; and stocking food storage areas and refrigerators. The Cook is expected to treat residents, families, visitors, and coworkers pleasantly, respectfully, and courteously.

Requirements

At least one year of experience.
High school diploma.
Organized, with a high level of attention to detail.
Desire to work with the elderly.
Self-starter.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

Prepare and pre-portion food for regular and therapeutic diets according to the planned menu.
Ensure residents receive meals as prescribed by their physicians.
Follow established food-handling, food-safety, and infection-control procedures.
Serve food attractively and use proper techniques to maintain quality, taste, and palatability.
Maintain food temperatures during preparation and ensure food is served at the proper temperature.
Record food, refrigerator, and freezer temperatures.
Assist with setting up the tray line and assemble trays according to the planned menu, tray tickets, portion requirements, resident preferences, and diet orders within established schedules.
Assist in checking trays for accuracy during service.
Follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
Clean, wash, and sanitize dishes, flatware, and utensils used to serve patients and others.
Help maintain the general cleanliness of the dishwashing area.
Clean assigned work areas and equipment.
Stock food storage areas and refrigerators as assigned.
Treat residents, families, visitors, and fellow employees pleasantly, respectfully, and courteously.
