About The Position

The Cook at The Legacy of Orangeburg, a community of Navion Senior Living, prepares and serves fresh, appealing meals with care and helps create a welcoming dining experience for residents. This part-time, day-shift role contributes to high-quality resident service and a positive team environment. The Cook must maintain a current ServSafe certificate or be able to complete food services sanitation training to become certified.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED accepted.
• One year of job-related experience, including food preparation, full-line menu items, and therapeutic diets.
• Must be at least 16 years old; in North Carolina, must be at least 18 if operating power-driven machines such as a meat slicer or mixer.
• Maintain a current ServSafe certificate or be able to participate in food services sanitation training to become ServSafe certified.
• Ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents without posing a substantial safety or health threat to self or others.
• Ability to learn basic tasks and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work well with others and promote a team environment.

Nice To Haves

• Culinary apprenticeship or training.
• Three years’ experience in a healthcare, hospitality, or service environment.
• Culinary arts experience.
• CPR and First-Aid certifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare palatable foods that are appetizing in appearance.
• Follow safety and sanitary requirements.
• Learn basic tasks and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Provide pleasant, friendly, helpful, proper, and timely service.
• Maintain a well-groomed appearance and follow dress requirements.
• Work well with others and promote a team environment.
• Help prepare and serve meals for residents.
