About The Position

Cape Heritage Rehabilitation & Health Care Center is hiring a full-time Cook in Sandwich, Massachusetts. The role prepares food to ensure quality food service under the direction of the Director of Dining Services. The position pays $22 per hour, provides weekly pay, and is scheduled for 40 hours per week, with a mix of 5 a.m.–1 p.m. and 12 p.m.–8 p.m. shifts. One year of dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or related medical facility is preferred but not required; training may be provided to the right candidate.

Requirements

Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and personnel, and the general public.
Knowledge of dining-service procedures and related laws, regulations, and guidelines for hospital and nursing-home operations.
Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
Patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, including willingness to interact with residents at their current maturity level.
One year of dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or related medical facility is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Follow therapeutic diets ordered by physicians.
Ensure food is served at the proper temperature and maintains visual appeal.
Monitor daily nourishments and follow standardized recipes.
Ensure proper portion control.
Follow sanitation and food-storage policies and procedures.
Maintain supplies and equipment, keep work areas in good condition, and inspect food-service areas for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties.
Perform other duties assigned by the manager.
