About The Position

The Cook prepares food in accordance with applicable federal, state, and company standards, guidelines, regulations, policies, and procedures, ensuring quality food service. This full-time position is based at the University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson, Texas, and works Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The pay range is $15.00 to $17.00 per hour. At least one year of cook experience is required. The role includes preparing food to standardized recipes and schedules, serving meals or preparing them for delivery, maintaining portion sizes and serving temperatures, tasting prepared items, and following HACCP and safe food-handling standards. The Cook also maintains kitchen cleanliness, stores food and supplies properly, operates and maintains kitchen equipment, assists with production planning and supply ordering, keeps required records, and reports maintenance needs, faulty equipment, or accidents to a supervisor. The position requires a commitment to personal and workplace safety, including using required protective equipment and safe lifting practices. Because the work is in an educational facility, work may be reduced or temporarily unavailable during school breaks; based on business needs, associates may be asked to work year-round, potentially at another location. Such periods without work may be unpaid and treated as temporary layoffs.
