About The Position

This position works in the Main Kitchen alongside other Cook’s, Food Service Assistants, and/or departmental supervisors to prepare a variety of foods and modified foods with various cooking methods and equipment which includes steaming, baking, boiling, frying, broiling, grilling, an Institutional Robot Coupe, and meat grinder to meet the production schedule. Position will maintain food/supply inventory daily. Position will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing workstation and equipment used. Be flexible enough to work in other departmental areas as needed.

Requirements

Education and/or experience in food preparation that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade equivalent to one year of experience in a commercial and/or institutional setting.
Ability to read and write.
Ability to learn food preparation and cleaning procedures.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees and residents.
Ability to learn, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering (picking, pinching, typing), grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions.
Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of occasional force and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
Visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work.

Nice To Haves

Experience in institutional food services.
