The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, with approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. This position is responsible for administering and managing a division of four to seven homes while facilitating comprehensive programming services and evaluations for assigned individuals. A key responsibility is developing and implementing habilitative training programs tailored to each person’s needs and personal goals. The Division Director oversees the system of service delivery to ensure programs are supported by both professional and direct care personnel, including securing necessary supplies, equipment, and services to maintain effective operations. The role also involves fostering an environment that supports growth and development while adhering to the policies and objectives of the Center and the Department of Health and Human Services. Additional duties include managing budgets, personnel, records, and facility maintenance while maintaining knowledge of organizational procedures. The Division Director ensures continuous coverage, high-quality service delivery, and compliance with all applicable laws, standards, and personnel policies. Caswell Developmental Center, serving as North Carolina's Eastern Region resource center, provides specialized residential, programmatic, and support services for individuals with developmental disabilities. The center strives to create an environment where every team member contributes to the overall success and positively impacts the lives of the individuals served.
