About The Position

USPI South Texas Specialty Hospital is seeking a motivated Cook to join our team. We have 25 Beds and 8 OR rooms and 3 ER Rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Orthopedic, Spine.

Requirements

  • Experience in food preparation and handling.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion control guidelines.
  • Ability to monitor food temperatures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals according to cycle menus; monitors methods of food handling, preparation, meal service and equipment cleaning.
  • Coordinate food preparation and meal service.
  • Plan and initiate cooking schedule for food preparation to meet meal schedule.
  • Prepare, season, cook and serve meat, main dish, soup, vegetable, and dessert for assigned meal; ensure appropriate portioned servings according to portion control standards and recipes.
  • Prepare nutritional snacks for patients as directed by the Dietary Manager.
  • Monitor temperature of hot and cold foods through food preparation and service to ensure that established temperature goals are met prior to steam table transfer and maintained throughout meal service.
