About The Position

The Cook will be responsible for putting into operation a quality program within the kitchen and for maintaining all licensing and accreditation standards in accordance with Child Care Development Fund (CCDF), Oklahoma DHS Child Care Licensing (OKDHS), and Comanche Nation and Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) regulations and standards. The Cook will maintain all necessary documentation needed for OKDHS and Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or enrolled in GED program with completions/test date provided to site director.
  • At least 1 year cook experience.
  • Have no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for offenses relating to children.
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass a Federal Background Investigation, employment will be contingent upon successful completion.
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass Drug Testing.
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma State Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervise others when needed following the chain of command.
  • Eligible applicants must submit proof of enrollment with employment application to receive Comanche preference.
  • Form 4432 must be submitted with employment application to receive Indian Preference.
  • Eligible applicants must submit proof of veteran status, DD Form 214, with employment application to receive veteran preference.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain children files, paperwork and records for compliance with CACFP using software when applicable.
  • Maintain client and program confidentiality.
  • Interpret and implement US Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations, Oklahoma licensing policies and ECDC policies pertaining to the CACFP.
  • Prepare cycle menus based on nutritional guidelines established by the (USDA).
  • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained at all times.
  • Prepare meals and snacks using the minimum meal pattern requirements by the CACFP.
  • Document food quantities used during food preparation.
  • Document the number of children served at each snack and meal served.
  • Clean and sanitize the kitchen and all appliances.
  • Sweep and mop floors in kitchen and food storage area (pantry).
  • Clean and Sanitize food surfaces, dining area, refrigerator, freezer, and stove.
  • Prepare weekly grocery list for the following week.
  • Purchase food, cleaning and kitchen supplies needed for the facility.
  • Be able to drive program vehicles for food and supply pickups.
  • Attend CN and state sponsored workshops.
  • Turn in monthly reports for reimbursements of expenses from the CACFP to the Site Director for payment.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor, site director, program director, and/or Tribal Administrator.
