About The Position

This is a full-time Cook position at Avamere at Sherwood. The role involves preparing, cooking, and plating meals, ensuring they are palatable and meet portion control standards. The Cook will also inspect diet trays, coordinate with the facility dietician and nursing services for diet changes, and ensure food and supplies are readily available for upcoming meals. Menu maintenance and assistance with meal serving are also part of the responsibilities. Additionally, the Cook will assist with dishes, general cleaning, freight, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High-School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in Assisted Living or other related Health Care Community.
  • Must have a food handlers’ card.
  • Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
  • Must be knowledgeable of food preparation procedures.
  • Must have knowledge of sanitation and food safety procedures and rules.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all food prep, cooking, and plating.
  • Serve meals that are palatable, appetizing in appearance and in accordance with established portion control procedures on a timely basis.
  • Inspect diet trays; work with the facility dietician and process diet change received from Nursing Services.
  • Coordinate food service with other departments.
  • Ensure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.
  • Ensure that menus are maintained and reviewed prior to preparation of food.
  • Assist in serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
  • Assist with dishes, general cleaning, and freight.
  • Perform other duties as listed in the job description.
